Anne

Anne and I had such a great time chatting as we walked to and from the fields. I loved hearing about her adventures as an exchange student, and comparing notes on literature. So fun to find things in common!

And I just have to say, I LOVE the color of her hair!!

Brittany | future vet to elephants

Seriously, the seniors I’ve had this year are all such gorgeous people! Maybe it’s  getting to spend time with them, talking, hearing dreams for the future, really these kids are great inside and out. I’ve had future vets, engineers, nurses, writers, chefs, military, musicians and more! So cool to see their enthusiasm and see how each person has their own path. Makes me thankful that I found the job that fits me too!

I’m not quite sure why but I don’t get nearly as many guy seniors, mostly girls. So it’s always fun when I get a guy interested in photography!

I just love the drama of this image:

Vintage glamor

I’ve been looking forward to Lexi’s senior photos for almost a year! I met her last summer at one of the weddings I was shooting, she was a bridesmaid and sister to the bride, so we spent the whole day together. As soon as they saw the wedding photos Lexi and her mom told me they wanted me to do her senior photos… and I was thrilled to do them! Lexi is a natural model, perky, fun, and totally charmed the camera.

She told me that she loves vintage things, so when I found these 1960′s suitcases in mint condition at a local thrift shop I had to snap them up for our senior shoot! Add in the trains and it was a  perfect setup!

I think the next photo is my favorite from the shoot:

I’m one lucky photographer to have such gorgeous models!

I love them both!

I often have a hard time deciding which version of an image to post on my blog or facebook page. I love the vibrancy of color. I love the drama of B&W. I love the glow of vintage actions. Oh what to do!!! So today I’m going to post the same photo in two versions, and YOU can comment your personal opinion and save me the headache of going back and forth:  ”B&W, no Color, no B&W, no Color…”

A wedding story

I’ve been excited about this wedding all year. The location, A Friend’s House on HWY 75, is a place I’ve driven by many times and always wanted to get a closer look at! A national historic location, it is beautiful! When Kari told me that was her venue I was thrilled!! But it was more than the location, all the details that Kari incorporated were fantastic. Be prepared for a LONG post:

A treasure in the details

As I’m editing wedding photos I always keep my eyes open for details in the ‘background’ or unnoticed items that I can crop into amazing images. This image is just such a treasure. And I just LOVE it!!

It reminds me of an old LIFE magazine photograph.

Fall Family

Fall colors don’t last long in Fargo. I took these photos about 10 days ago, and the trees are almost bare now!

This family was very patient with the weather. Our original shoot was for July. Then it rained. So we scheduled August. And it rained. So we scheduled the last week of September. And it rained. Again. Thankfully I had another date open the same week so we FINALLY got their session in. I think their patience paid off, because they got the best colors of the year!!!
