Bloopers and paper-cuts | the saga

I just spent a LOT of time fixing one page on my website: the contact me page. I had this really cool idea of a photo of me with falling envelopes (you know, “contact me”).

Easy right?

Well … NO.

DO you know how HARD it is to coordinate falling envelopes? They are worse than babies and dogs combined. Very fickle indeed.

After a long shoot (and three paper-cuts later) I finally had a photo I liked, until I put it on my website. I realized that the colors of the envelopes clashed with the mood of my site… Orange and Yellow don’t do great with Gray/Green peaceful tones. Soooo back to the backdrop in another outfit, with only green and blue envelopes. Success!!

Below are some of the outtakes and rejects. Enjoy!

And the photo I chose… drum roll…

Tada!  Go check it out on the contact me page of my website: Here

2 friends | 2 cameras

On Easter Sunday a dear friend of mine (who also happens to be a photographer, check her out at: Studio A Photo ) was in town!! Of course we had to grab our equipment and take a photo walk together. We found some fantastic new locations right around downtown Fargo.

This corner is just amazing, it has so many nooks and crannies and backgrounds all within feet of each other!! Loved it!

The crazy architecture and structure:

The interesting ‘thing’ we found, and what a pretty color it is too!. Perfect for posing with our cameras, (I’ll post the pics of me once I get a copy).

Yup, this was what I was looking at half the time. It’s interesting being on the opposite side of a camera, I learned a lot about modeling, and got some neat ideas for how to make others comfortable when they are  in this position:

I don’t know what it is about color that just thrills me. Maybe it runs in the family. My great grandfather was a house painter and had to mix his own colors. People from all over the city would call him because he could ‘eye’ the color to match perfectly with what they already had on the walls. I notice that I have a similar gift when working in digital art, matching color is very easy for me. And you will notice that I am drawn towards color in my images. ;)

That last photo was taken with the camera held over my head. It isn’t perfectly framed, but I love the slightly off kilter feel.

Till next time, enjoy the colors in your world!

Spring has Sprung

“Spring is when you feel like whistling even with a shoe full of slush” ~ Doug Larson

In honor of the fact that the last snow in my back yard FINALLY melted, I’m posting some spring pics from last year!!

This location is probably familiar to most people in Fargo/Moorhead … Concordia College! The beautiful campus sports a gorgeous pond and fountain that are perfect for romantic shots. I just love the engagement pics I took there last year; the different shades of green on the trees, the moss, and the bright blue top K wore that day. Perfection!

A specail moment caught adds romance to the already stellar scenery…

Not only is the pond fun for romantics, but seniors love it too! The country feel in the middle of the city makes it easy to get a wide variety of looks within a few blocks. Fargo / Moorhead rock!

Happy spring everyone! Let the photo shoots begin.
